Spring Seasons are Coming

It doesn’t take much to be reminded of the scary circumstances in the world surrounding COVID-19 – just click on a news channel, tune into a podcast, or even open a social media app to hear news of loss front and center. We shared our thoughts last week (https://barbourspangle.com/support-your-neighbor/), and we’re hoping that even in the midst of uncertainty, our HPD community can rally together to support local businesses and one another – at a safe social distance! – in the coming weeks.

In case you missed, we shared which local businesses were offering curbside pick up, delivery, or carry-out to customers in lieu of closing down their dining rooms and store fronts. We saw so many of you sharing a book you picked up from Sunrise Books, the coffee you grabbed from Debeen or 83 Custom Coffee, and takeout from so many yummy places. We saw you pick up your T-shirt from HPNC to support our local business community. (You can still order one here!) Despite all the hardship around us, we saw an outpouring of love, community, and support for our neighbors in the small business community. And it made us reflect on the fact that sometimes the hardest seasons bring forth some of the best results!

Just like the season of spring we’re entering into, we hope that the result from these uncertain and hard days is an even stronger community. When we look around at our world, we feel comforted by the fact that nature always returns from the crisis of winter brighter and better than ever. As warmer weather starts creeping in, it reminds us to get outside and soak in the fresh air. Bees are still buzzing; trees are still budding; flowers are still blooming!

So while we’re all spending some time socially distanced from one another, we hope that you can get outside, go for a walk with your family and your furry friends, take a jog or a bike ride, or just spend some time in your backyard. And we hope we can continue to be a place of community, engagement, and togetherness for you and your family during this time.

We’ll be slowing down on our regularly scheduled blog series, as we work even harder to keep you updated and informed on the happenings in High Point during the COVID-19 crisis. Make sure to follow along on our social media channels at Instagram and Facebook, @highpointdiscovered. We’ll be sharing ways you can enjoy High Point right from your home – with live streaming from businesses, meal prep kits, social media fun, business support brainstorms, and community news. As always, HPD is here to provide an unapologetically hopeful perspective on our community news, but for live updates on how you can protect yourself and your family during COVID-19, be sure to visit https://www.cdc.gov/.

As always High Point, we’re here for you. Keep #SupportingMyNeighbors_HPD, and keep discovering our city – even from a social distance!

Keep Discovering our High Points,

The HPD Team
