Alright, so we know you may have come to town for the Furniture Market, but we all know one of the best things about travel is…the food! And having to rush from one event to the next, being away from home, and being surrounded by awesome colleagues, means you have even more of an excuse to eat out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We have compiled some great spots for each hour of the day, close to the Market and perfect for everything from a quick bite to a sit-down meal. And make sure to hit up all your favorite High Point spots while you’re in town.
The Salty Bagel Company
The Salty Bagel Company will have your mouth watering and thinking you’ve stepped into a New York bagel shop. Their fresh boiled bagels, plus so many cream cheese options are the perfect breakfast item to grab to take on-the-go or for a snack. We recommend the bacon scallion cream cheese on an everything bagel! YUM. Just make sure you make it to see them before 2pm
One of the most beloved spots for breakfast in High Point, Alex’s House provides omelets, waffles, and tasty hash browns. All within a cozy diner, and close to downtown, Alex’s House offers a great way to start your day. Because of their quaint diner seating area, you can also call ahead and place an order, if you have a big group. Pro tip: there’s parking in the back.
Penny Path Cafe
You may already know that we are HUGE fans of Penny Path Café. Located conveniently in downtown High Point, this cafe is the perfect lunch spot for a quick bite on the go. Specializing in both savory and sweet crêpes, you’ll have no problem finding something to satisfy your hunger. Our personal fave? The Kitchen Sink crêpe with a little bit of everything! (Just remember, they’re closed on Monday, so be ready first thing Tuesday afternoon.)
Blue Rock Pizza
Casual eating with an upscale feel, brought to you by incredible wood-fired pizzas. Blue Rock Pizza and Tap has its own incredible and unusual combinations for toppings, but you can always create your own as well. Plus, it’s the perfect lunch to grab for a group, if you want to grab a pie to share with friends and colleagues. Not to mention their 40 craft beers on tap.
If you’re in the mood for something fast and tasty, stop in to Wicked Taco. With some wild combinations at this cantina style eatery, you can always find something creative. Or customize your own. Grab some chips and salsa from the salsa bar, and you’re ready to go.
Magnolia Blue is a new addition to High Point that we cannot get enough of. Offering a gourmet take on your favorite southern comfort foods, Magnolia Blue is the perfect place to take a group after a long night at Market. Offering classic southern items with a global twist, like shrimp and grits, pimento cheese, chicken and waffles, and more, you won’t be disappointed.
Sweet Old Bill’s
Sweet Old Bill’s is another new addition to High Point’s uptown that is to die for. For a casual but delicious dinner, try one of their creative pulled pork sandwiches, a burger, brisket or chicken wings. With both indoor and outdoor seating, take a group into uptown to unwind after a day at Market, with this fresh take on barbeque.
The Cozy Cannoli
What is a good foodie day without something sweet? The Cozy Cannoli offers rich desserts of cannolis, cookies, pastries, and even coffee to go with it all. They even have seasonal flavor fillings, so be sure to ask one of the staff what they recommend. The Cozy Cannoli is open until 8pm on Tuesday-Saturday, and Sunday until 4pm.
1345 N. Main St. #101
Sweet Josephine’s is another fantastic option for anyone with a sweet tooth. Offering a wide array of gourmet cupcakes, cakes and other treats why not stop by and pick up something sweet after dinner? Our personal favorites are the red velvet and the tres leches flavors. But ask the staff what is available for each day.
We couldn’t decide if Granny’s Donuts, open from 6am to 8pm, should be a spot for breakfast or dessert. If you decide to do donuts for breakfast, we won’t tell anyone! Granny’s Donuts offers some of the best homemade donuts and coffee around. The apple fritters, well, let’s just say yum! Grab one to eat on your way to Market, or be the favorite from your team, and grab a box to share with coworkers.
