They say that when you can’t find what you want you might just have a business idea. High Point entrepreneur Meredith Covington did just that. While working on the design of her outdoor living space she could not find suitable “outdoor art” to hang on the wall. An idea💡was born!
Exposed was created by childhood friends, Meredith Covington and Nan Jones, to end the stereotype that beautiful art is just for indoor spaces. Their products add a stunning touch to any outdoor space and they are made to withstand all the elements! We loved being able to speak with Meredith and Nan to learn more about their company to share with our High Point Discovered friends (yes, we are talking to you).
A.We are the pioneers of original art that can withstand outdoor elements.
A. We understood the void of existing outdoor art and determined that painted art should be moved outside as the perfect complement to defining the special outdoor space. We were inspired by a love for the outdoors and yearning to complement the trend of outdoor living.
A. We are the only weather-resistant, original art fabricators.
A. Highlights: Exposure during Fall and Spring Furniture Markets, opportunities to work with like-minded people in the design industry. Challenges: Being in a partnership where partners live in different cities (High Point/ Raleigh).
A. Home to one of the Partners/Owners.
A. Because we are a relatively young company (9 months), we haven’t seen many changes yet…except for the promise of a new baseball stadium, children’s museum, and new restaurants.
A. Our biggest challenge has been determining our target market audience (designers vs. retail shops vs. individuals) and determining our advertising/marketing platform for exposure (no pun intended!). We have sought advise from industry professionals, which has been extremely helpful.
A. The citizens of High Point have supported us by purchasing our product. We procure most of our materials through High Point vendors and that helps to keep our overhead costs lower than purchasing elsewhere.
A. Embrace the mighty resources and connections in our small town.
A. Uptowne growth and the baseball stadium/surrounding area project, that will provide opportunities for people to gather together.
A. Art should be hung anywhere you want it to be; whether your private patio, poolside, oceanfront home, mountain cabin…or even places indoors (bathrooms) that may endure steam or moisture.
A. Our vision for one year from now is to offer a variety of exclusive collections and styles by other regional artists in order to appeal to different collectors’ tastes.
A. We plan to set up an e-commerce tab on our website by the beginning of 2019, but for now you may visit our website www.exposed-outdoors.com for ordering information OR by emailing info@exposed-outdoors.com
