We love utilizing the weekend as a time to relax, rejuvenate, catch up on our reading and get inspired! Nothing beats spending a Saturday afternoon in High Point with a good book. Here is our perfect itinerary for a “book lovers” stroll in High Point (& of course there’s food involved).
10am: Start your day at a local favorite, Sunrise Books. Sunrise Books is High Point’s independent book store and their owner, Angel, would love to recommend a great read for you to start! Soon we will be posting stories on both Angel and Sunrise so stay tuned!
12pm: Walk up one block North to Fixins for a leisurely lunch where you can enjoy one of our favorites – their pimento grilled cheese, and be sure to ask for an order of the Brussel sprouts. Ah-maz-ing!
1:30pm: Head South to the Bienenstock Furniture Library. At the moment, they are not open on weekends otherwise we would recommend you spend some time flipping through original works by 18th century furniture masters Chippendale, Sheraton, and Hepplewhite. In lieu of doing so, we recommend taking a look at their beautiful gardens and historic architecture. Be prepared to feel inspired! And, be sure to schedule a weekday to come back for a tour!
3pm: Head one more block south and treat yourself to a Krispy Kreme doughnut on your walk over to the High Point Library. The library is wrapping up a year+ project for the High Point Farmer’s Market, a venue that promotes a healthy lifestyle and a sense of community in a family-friendly gathering place.
4:30pm: Right across from Sunrise Books (where you started your journey) is hometown favorite brewery, Brown Truck. Grab a seat on the spacious outdoor patio and enjoy that new book along with a locally brewed beer!
Check out or recent post on Brown Truck here.
Insider Tip: All of these locations are within an easy stroll from one another so plan this itinerary for a beautiful day and enjoy the Carolina Sunshine! We suggest parking at First Bank on the corner of Main Street and Farriss Avenue (they are closed on Saturdays), or any of the available side street parking along Hillcrest Place, Guilford Avenue, and Farriss Avenue.
